IOS 6 Apple Maps, the Wrong Turning?

English: Wordmark of Google Maps

Giant company Apple has just released its new operating system for mobile devices, IOS 6. It seems also that they have also invented a time machine, because the maps seem to have taken users to the stone age. Witty puns aside, Apple have ditched the previously awesome Google Maps based maps app in favour of their own ‘Maps App’. This decision has been part of Apple’s disconnection from Google, where they also got rid of the YouTube app (a seemingly minor issue as the free YouTube app has rocketed to the top of the free app charts on the App Store).

The maps are meant to be more data efficient but despite this, postcodes have been mixed up, places have been reported to have ‘disappeared’ from the map and new places turning up where they do not exist. They even invented an imaginary airport in America!

However, there is a way out for those of you who have updated to IOS 6. Simply go to maps.google.com and click “Add to Home Screen” on the bottom bar. A app-like icon will appear on your Home Screen which acts as a quick link to Google Maps, solving all your Apple Maps problems! Now you can enjoy your IOS 6 goodness (maybe on your flashy new iPhone 5!) while still using Google Maps.

Thanks For Reading and leave your opinions on the IOS 6 update below!
